OK guys, here's more notice than before the mini meet last summer. Time to start thinking about another get together. Maybe some folks from Nebraska or St Louis might want to buzz over?

Some possible dates:

Saturday March 17
Saturday March 24
Saturday March 31

Nice weather will likely interfere if we get into April, since we don't want to be unhappy being stuck inside.

Who's got new gear around here? AKG K1000's and K601's are my most recent, with some vintage Stax SR-5's on the way, like Laz's set I think. Also, a few interesting tube amps.

I'm in Wichita, could probably make somewhere in the northeast if I'm off that day. (I'm about to get my quarterly schedule change, not sure what days I'll have off next month.)

Hey,
Earjam comes up from Wichita to our meets. Lazarus Short from KC never misses, has been in contact.

I'll make you guys a pot of chili if you want.

It looks like Saturday, March 31st is the safest date. What time shall we start? 2:00 pm? Let's start early enough, since it seems like we always run out of time.

I will send pm's to the local guys that have either been to,or have expressed interest in our prior meets.

Our stash at last August meet.

I live in the KC area. I have a HD580 and MS1 currently (possibly MS2i or '05 DT990 in the near future). I also have a Dynalo with Crossfeed and a portable MisterX XP amp. My source is a flashed AV710 to an Entech 203.2.

I know this is a pretty mid-fi (or is it low-fi

) offering, but it might be still be interesting to hear.

I have a portable HDD with a ton of decent quality music on it too.

OK guys, we're on for Saturday, March 31 at noon. I'll have a cooler here and I'll make a pot of something for lunch.

I sent a generic PM to all that I know of around here whom I have either met, or have expressed interest.

Here's who got messages:
wnewport; kukyfrope; Jim Clark; MichaelFranks; Rid123; earjam, ilikemonkeys, Lazarus Short, Nova, Toe, ajt976

Anyone else interested? PM me if you are.

We'll probably go on for a few hours. Laz, EJam and I have had several meets together, so we like to hang out and listen to stuff.

A small turnout - my old buddies Lazarus Short, Earjam and yours truly. We spent a lot of time with all of the Stax cans and the AKG K1000's, although the rest got a fair bit of playing time, esp. the SA5000. We were all amazed at the good sound of the old Stax SR-5's. Next meet - probably August or September here in Lawrence, unless someone else want to run with it.

Cans:
AKG K1000, K601, K501
Sennheiser HD650, HD600, HD280, PX100
Sony SA5000
Stax SR404, SR-5 (two pairs)

Amps:
McAlister: Electrostatic amp and Preamp/Headamp
Stax: Amp for SR404 (forgot model#) and older modded tube amp
Fisher: X-100C Tube amp
Magnavox: SE tube amp from '60s era console

DACs:
Benchmark DAC1
ART DI/O, hotrodded and modded by Bolder Cable Co.

Here below is a lovingly disrespected pile of sweet gear.
