got mines a week ago.First impressions: didn't sound bassy, as i was expecting, thought what i was expecting was a better sound! but mayby i just need to give em some time...
Anyway after I put them on for at least 5-10 minutes my ear's starting to hurt! does anybody else have this problem? any ideas how to "fix" this issue?

Strange that you don't find them too bassy, as they are definitely the can for the basshead in us all. I remember them sounding pretty good, so I would recommend giving them a little more time before making a final judgment.

As for the comfort issue, that is a regular problem with the K81. Some can handle it, and some can't. There is a way to bend the headband to lessen the clamp force, though you will lose some isolation if you do so. I never had to do it myself or I would tell you how to do it. I don't know the exact post, but if you search the Official K81DJ thread you should turn up several posts regarding the mod.

I'm pretty sure that's the case everywhere but in the US. personally I like the look of the k518's, but can't seem to get them anywhere in the US.

For the ear hurting issues, to temporarily alleviate the issue, try stretching out the headband. If you do it slowly, carefully and with common sense, they will be wider. Right now the K81s I have rest on my ears rather than clamp them, so the comfort is definitely better, but it still hurts after 3 hours...which is pretty much all supraural headphones for me at least.
