hi, i have the k518dj [black ver of k81dj], i like the sound [modded with blu-tak], but i still find it uncomfortable for long wear, becoz its supra-aural, would prefer something thats circum-aural, was wondering how the sony v6 sound is like compared to the k81dj? i had the es7 b4 for awhile, but somehow i didnt like the sound of it compared to the k81dj though....

For portable, if you like the 81s and don't like the ES7s you have no where to go. Shorten the cord on the 81's and enjoy.

The V6, as it comes out of the box, is more super-aural and is not really especially comfortable. If you mod it with the DT250 earpads it is quite nice, though. I will refrain from comment on SQ since I've never heard the K81dj.

v6 are too shrill in my opinion. I just got the v6 last week and hate it. The v6 are accurate and nice, but long music session with the v6 are a no no. P.S.: koss ksc75 sounds better than the v6.

I have es7 and k81's....

I like the es7 for most purposes but I tend to grab the k81 more because I dont have to worry about scratching them

It depends on the music really. I really like the tight punchy bass and clean detail on the es7. k81 are still enjoyable but they just dont feel as detailed and are more artificial sounding.

Try giving a listen to RP-15's. They're fairly portable and if you are a basshead.. those things kill even the k81's in the bass department.

The ES7s and K81s couldn't be more different. Forget about bass and treble, the ES7s have such a retro JBL/Altec Lansing 1950's upper midrange crazyness about them that I can only stand them for about 12 seconds at a time. If they didn't look so good nobody on this forum would even give them a second thought, IMO.

i'm not that big of a basshead, i had to 'blu-tak' mod my k81dj to tame the bass....somehow i juz didnt like the es7 sound compared to the k81dj's....read alot of good things bout the rp21 here, but too bad its not sold in Sg, nor is the sony v6 too......wow the ksc75 SQ is better than the sony v6?!? too bad i'm looking for a closed headphone though....but maybe could give that a try if i can get a good price for it.....

DT231 all i've heard was the DT231 Galactic version...it still far from K518dj, trust me...the bass wasn't deep, mid & hi not to forward, kind of "V" EQ soundtype...not to effective as well, maybe amp would make it more shine than unamped...cmiiw !
