i just got my mojo chord, so far its been great. still, im wondering if i should do something besides installing drivers. as i read, mojo isnt plug n play. so i wanna know if i shld change something on my settings(such as bit depths/samplerates etc). im currently using it on my desktop. im no pro so, i little bit of info would be nice. one last thing, besides burn in of cans, does mojo needs it too? if yes, how long?

and regarding about the connectors, is it fine to use data cables built for phones? am i good buying adapters? will i expect some quality loss etc etc

thanks

Any normal cables should be fine, and you should change your sample rate and bit depth to match the majority of the music files you'll be using. If you listen to mostly 16/44.1 then set it to that. This usually results in a minimal amount of oversampling

Incorrect.

To use the DAC portion of the Mojo to feed an external amp you need to start in fixed output which is done by holding down the two balls that are next to each other first, keeping them pushed in and then push on the third(power) ball.If youre using the Mojo amp section, simply skip this step.

The Mojo has a floating bitrate, meaning if youre playing 24/192 file the Mojo's light will turn Green(? I think its Green)and then when you go back to 16/44.1 or MP3 it goes back to red.If you set your system to a specific bitrate as suggested above, anything under that value will be upsampled and sound horrid with lots of noise, depending upon how far up its being raised.Files that are above the level you set will sound less dynamic.

You need to set your output on computer to WASAPI,and make sure the software youre using to play files isnt upsampling the files. I use MediaMonkey but you can also use FooBar2000.

Lastly, you will quite possibly need to install a driver.

I highly recommend reading carefully the first few posts in this thread. Its highly informative.

just wondering cause im confused on whats happening lel. im charged my mojo hrs ago then suddenly it shuts down, tried opening it and after a few secs it shut down so i figured i ran out of battery. so after a few hrs i used it again and listened for a couple of hrs then it shutdown again. im charging right now and im seeing blue light on the charging led indicator, it has been blue the moment i started charging(i can say that its blue cause of the reflection). how do i really know the battery life? if im not mistaken blue led means its fully charged. so why would it be blue if i just started charging it? ive read on the manual from chord's website that the led should turn off as long as its fully charged. soo, im confuse xd

Did you buy it new or used?
I bought mine used several months ago,and like you needed a few days to get used to the learning curve of how to use the Mojo correctly w/o up/downsampling.

Originally my Mojo would stay charged 24/7 and only shut off a couple times for overheating(it does have thermal protection)so make sure it has plenty of space.Unfortunately now the battery on mine is dying, which is apparently normal when keeping a battery of this type charged constantly. What I have found that helps with mine once it shuts down is to unplug the power USB for a couple seconds and then plug back in,and then power back up.Using this method I get about 4-6 hours of play time before it shuts down again.

I am sending mine in for repair and then selling mine as I dont need a mobile amp/DAC and have since purchased a proper desktop amp/DAC that I prefer the sound and staging more.

i bought mine brandnew so im not sure if its just how it is, first used was out of the box lasted for hrs then charged for 2-3hrs then used again then right after a few hrs 2-4hrs maybe shut down again. what im worried about is the charging led indicator, does the color really change while charging? cause so far ive only seen white/blue led. not sure if its really white or blue. is there a way to see the battery life without charging it?

IDK. again since i left mine plugged in 24/7 i never bothered to see if it was charging or not,as long as music was playing was all I cared about.

I would ask in the thread I provided earlier or contact Chord directly.Theyre quite a helpful bunch and usually respond to email within 12-24 hours(time zone differences)

He was correcting my mistake about how the Mojo handles sampling rates. I always forget that the Mojo can detect sampling rates and adjust accordingly

Check out the manual for answers to some of your questions.

I used a 5V 2A micro USB wall charger to keep the Mojo charging. That could be a solution for you. I'd recommend charging it to full before turning it on at first, which will let it trickle-charge most of the time afterwards. (Otherwise, a heavier charge draw could put too much stress on the unit and risk triggering a shutdown from overheating.)

Thats what im hoping, that its just my charger, excitement and my eyes seeing the wrong color. Right now ill jst charge it with what i have and wait for the indicator to turn off before using it again. Will probably buy a better wall charger first thing in the morning.
