K701 not enough bass even after burn in

Hmm I don't own them but I tested them for an hour or so and I think they have good and precise bass but I don't think they are the right thing for real bass heads because in my opinion they didn't have that much bass.
Maybe you were just expecting something different because I heard people say the K701 needed 100 to 300 hours of burn in but I think if there's not enough bass for you by know then you should think about getting other headphones.

I don't think I'm a bass head......but I feel my DT 880s have more bass the K701s and it doesn't appear that way on the graph presented by Headroom....im so confused

The headroom graphs put the K701 above the HD650s at the bottom end, which is not the case. Don't trust the graphs, trust your ears.

I do think the 701 has bass on the slightly lean side, at least leaner than I would like. But in any case, some questions might help narrow down the problem.

What setup are you using, source and amplifier?

Also, what music are you listening to, or what music are you playing that you find with insufficient bass?

It is just the way they are. I used to own it alongside the Senn 650 (with Zu Mobius cable). I had them both paired with a somewhat warm GS-1 amp and even a warm source (Ack dAck). The k701 are relatively bass light.

The K701 bass quantity definitely is more for the low side. Although it's precise, detailed and very deep.
I'm using mine with a RSA "M" Hornet with about 300 hours on it or a MAD Ear+ Purist HD2 and it sounds very good to my ears. I prefer the HD2 though ...

I agree that the 701's are "bass lite". However, the soundstage and detail are good so I have struggled to try to squeeze as much bass out of them as I can in an attempt to balance them out.

I use 2 different tube amps with the 701's. I select tubes with rolled off treble and strong bass to compliment the sound of the headphones. I also use cables as a type of tone control with the same frequency response characteristics.

Can you tell us what source you have so we can offer more specific ideas on how to help you?

Compared to the 650's, I can understand why you may never be happy with the bass of the harder to drive 701's. I like the Senn's bass and they work well with the Hornet.

If you've found the headphones that you think are the best in the world, perhaps you could just listen to them and sell the K-701?
