They sound great. They are very comfortable. It goes neck to neck with the hd650s in different ways. The bass isn't lacking but neutral (Makes rock/metal less fatiguing i.m.o. ~somewhat unlistenable with the hd650s~). These headphones aren't bright nor are they veiled. I personally think that no EQ'ing is neccessary for these headphones but the hd650s need mild EQ'ing.

Enjoy, Troy. There don't seem to be as many of us around here anymore that really dig the K701 - especially for fun factor. I personally thought they made just about anything sound good and for IDM music in particular, they were absolutely eargasm inducing. Sold mine and I miss them... but the RS-1 is just better for me.

Thinking about amps yet?

You look so young. I'm assuming you are. Take care of your ears!

Next you have to get is a Grado, then a Beyer...

Glad you like the K701's. I love them, but I'm having too much fun with all the Grado's in the house.

The Gilmore Lite is suitable as far as I can tell. But that might change on the next paycheck.

To me, K701's are sort of like the little brother you find fun for a while, but then want to pawn off. Thing is, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. You see a lot of people buying their little brother's back on this forum, and I've certainly contemplated the action. I recommend not letting them go unless you're absolutely sure you're ready for bigger, better things. :701smile:

Congrats on your new headphone purchase, and glad to see you're enjoying them so much!
