Posted this in the wrong forum originally! Sorry for the repeat!

I just caught the K340 bug and received them yesterday. They have been re-cabled but it is a spotty job with the 1/4" plug fraying and electrical tape at the Y. As these were originally intended to be played with I was wondering if you all could give me recommendations on what to re-cable them again with. This would be my first re-cable job and I am willing to do it a few times until I get the sound right. What is your favorite DYI cable and what sound signature were you trying to attain? Thanks!!

From experience, canare starquad tends to make it darker and silver wire (expensive) lightens it up. I have not had any experience with others.

I am a pragmatist, one who does not believe in the demon-haunted view of the world, and I've been thinking about this sort of thing for weeks now.

I'm starting to lean strongly toward just buying higher-quality replacement cables from mainstream manufacturers.

Double entry? hd650 cable, $11. Single entry? HD485 cable, $3 + $3 screw-on 1/4" adapter.

wire quality can make a difference, but it's the last 1/10th of 1% imnsho, with the source being the first 98%. the other 1.9% is capacitors.
