Just a heads up, there is a Sextett on e-bay right now:

From the looks of the pictures, it is either a mid or late production one, maybe leaning more towards late production.

These need way more recognition, hope someone on head-fi gets it!

How do you figure?

Frankly I prefer it when great vintage cans remain obscure.

Edit: And the way sextetts have been getting bid up at the auction sites for at least the last 18 months, all evidence points to them being recognized just fine.

Yes thats true, but it seems that the people who bid them up are not head-fi members, that, or they are all a single head-fi member who will go un named

Why would you prefer the great vintage cans to have little recognition? So it would be easier for people that know about them to get good deals? But if you already have one, why would you be concerned about that?

The major factor there is the fact that i don't already have one :p

Nope. I've got a super-old K240-M which appears to be descended from the K241 which was a direct descendant of the Sextett - it has six filter patches in two different colors (and allegedly two different permeabilities) in the baffle, but no passive diaphragms.

And I've got a -DF.

Yes it has the silver rings on the earcups instead of gold ones and it has the holes in the headband. Although there were some sextetts with solid headbands I believe. The silver is the dead giveaway usually.
