Previously I had 22awg Valkyrja soldered to the binding posts, it was 35cm long, and it was soldered to a 16awg Valhalla power cord, but it didn't work good because the solder joint came loose a couple times a month. Today the solder joint inside K1000 came loose because the pulling from Valhalla is so strong. I have opened up my K1000 now and they are nude on my table, what will I do to them? The 16awg conductors don't fit through the hole of the rubber thing.

Also, soon I will receive a Virtual Dynamics Genesis cable for my headphones to replace my Valhalla, it weighs like 20 lbs. I'm worried that it will not work so good. Should I build some kind of helmet to plug the Genesis into?

Or maybe I should just install a short stock cable and plug it into the Genesis which is resting beside my keyboard?

You're going to need some kind of strain relief for that amount of weight. 20 lbs. will pull the solder off the pads and might ruin the drivers.

A helmet might be the only way. Or maybe shoulder pads connected to the K-1000.

With a 20lbs cable connected to the K1000 you will need something to distribute the weight. A helmet sounds like a plan.

Why not make some sort of strain relief cord that goes from a hard mount point on the headphones, and connects to the wiring just below the solder connection? Leave maybe 2" of slack in the upper cord before the strain relief cord goes taut. Then, get some sort of small plastic or metal box with holes in each end to allow wire passthrough, with a rubber grommet in each hole to prevent wire chafing and to keep and tension off the joint itself, to put over the solder joint to keep it from constanly breaking apart?

As rigged as it sounds, even something like a pair of shoelaces could work for the strain relief cords (you could even get some red ones to match the headband). You could also get some stretchy rubber tubing, if you could find any with a diameter that would work.

Ok, I did it, the 1meter Valhalla cable is so stiff it lifts up the K1000 in the air. I had to put the Valhalla under my display to keep it still. Then I twisted it together with another 1meter Valhalla to plug into my DAC.

I found some holes going from the rear of the drivers into the front where the binding posts are, I inserted the Valhalla through those holes! They fit the 16awg Valhalla like a glove! 15awg wouldn't have fit through. Did the designers prepare the K1000 for 16awg wiring?
Then I bent the Valhalla so it was pressing against the pin beside the binding posts.

I also had to remove the rear grilles to do this tweak. I need to warm-up my system until I can hear the results!

Thats what I call a modified K1000.

The Valhalla cable looks very misplaced. But with Patrick nothing shock me anymore. He always go to the extreme when tweaking his rig..

Hey patrick, I bet you could mod your K1000s into a closed headphone in order to get more bass. It seems like in your previous threads that you wanted to get more bass.

What i don't understand is why those conductors are so close together. You need spacers between them to reduce crosstalk and capacitance.

That has already been done before, so it wouldn't be very extreme of him to follow in somebody else's footsteps.
