I'm considering getting a K1000 but need to decide on a tube amp under $1k. Any suggestions? Also, I'm thinking of getting a use amp on audiogon.

you may want to try the antique sound labs AQ 1005 DT-I, and see if you can find it used.

or perhaps a used audio electronic supply se-1.

DRCope built the Bottlehead Paramour monoblocks which were $575 for the pair. He says it sounds incredible with the AKG-K1000.

I'll find out myself when I finish building my Paraglows.

I second the antique sound labs AQ 1005 DT-I simply it's the whole product.

You'll need a pre amp and cables for the Bottlehead. And you've to spend some time to DIY it.

I didn't know you have a Melos pre amp.
Waiting for Nick's report seems to be a good idea.
Or get the SAL amp if you don't want to wait and diy the Bottlehead.

Do you have any personal experience with the AES SE-1 or anymore info than what's on their website? I'm particularly interested in this unit.
