Hi there you all, Im going for new headphones (got an AT ckm50, want something better), but dont wanna go big bucks.

I saw down at giz someone (definetly looked like an expert) commenting about these 'JVC micro hd' (30 obamas) canalphones with a new kind of driver and told that they sounded almost as good as high-end stuff(Like UE-10, yes, looks too crazy) , I scoured the net for reviews and found nothing , does someone here know anything about these puppies?

If these are good as told, theyre greatest value ever, but if the hype isnt true, Im considering AT ck70 too, what else should i look for in the great-earphones-for-real-prices section?

lol.....Gizmodo is wrong there are tons of good headphones under $100, of course alot of them come from Asia. I think the only person who has reviewed the JVC is joker, try finding his review. What is your budget? Personally, I can tell you all of my IEMs that I own are under $100 or can be bought for under $100 and they are all worth their value in price/performance ratio.

yeah man, i totally agree, if you think about it, its not like manufacturers are spending 100 million dollars plus 5 years in research to make decent phones, thats just not it, $500 for a pair earphones? no thanks.

It is only right that there should be very good earphones for less than $100.

my budget is like $120 tops

I listen everything, but mostly its classical/violinsolo, rock (w/ lots guitar solo) and the ocasional mainstream band.But always looking for new stuff.

I'd go for Meelectronics AI-M6 in clear at around $35 (because clear has new cable) over JVC. M6 has absolutely wonderful sound for the price and it's very low on microphonics.

My friend has Shure 530, he said if he can not have Shure 530, he'll be happy with JVC HA-FXC50 (Micro HD) - those are good.
Be aware of so-called OEM. Rumors are, so-called OEM ones use same JVC drives which leaked from factories. The authentic ones priced $25-$40; the OEM ones are $15-$20. Which one will you pick?

The JVC FXC series is a good value but there are other great sounding options as well. I'm currently writing up a comparison of the FXC50, Meelec M9, and Sennheiser CX250, and they all perform quite admirably especially considering their respective prices. However, if I had to choose one that I feel performs far above its price point, it wouldn't be the JVCs.

I would probably say the Klipsch S4 isn't bad, I am trying to burn in my pair. But, if you don't mind a bass light pair the RE0 are excellent, jazz, rock, vocals, everything but hiphop/rap, and other bass heavy music.

theyre teh $30 stuff, but i could only find at $54 for international order, so up to now ill be considering the other suggestions...

unless, of course if they actually compare to shure 530, then Im all over them!

Ok, Im with you now, but:

*Ive already go an Audiotechnica ckm50, wich should compare to CX300 so CX250 shouldnt be any better right?

You discarded JVC so looks like it boils down to meleetronics? But what flavour of melleetronics:

M11?
M9?
M6?

price on all of those are well within my budget, so just the best of all is ok, looks like m11 or m6 really.

AND would audiotechnica CK70(review on forum 1st page) be distinctively better than all of those above?

Agreed. JVCs do sound better than the price tag indicates but they can be beaten in price/performance. The soon-to-ship new version of Ai-M9 will blow them out of the water and I still prefer the PL21 slightly over them at a similar price point.

the m9 may have greatest value at 20 obamas but what about m6 and m11?

OK saw the reviews now, ai-m6 is the meelec winner.. Ok so Im to choose between the following two, I know they're at different price points but the CKS70 is being sold locally(brazil) which makes big difference, also, as I own a CKM50 so those are garanteed to be an improvement.

FINAL CHOICE:

AI-m6 OR CKS70

OK PALS WHICH DO I PICK??

Two totally different price tiers. The M6's strength is in it's high price/performance ration. If cost is of no consequence the CKS70 is likely the better earphone, especially if you're a basshead.
