I've been wanting to get an inexpensive set of small headphones for when I'm out walking or on the bicycle.  Based on a few postings I read here on Head-Fi, I looked into the JVC HAS600B.  They seem to be just what I was looking for, so I decided to go for it.

Hey, as long as they sound decent, and are fairly comfortable, then they were a good investment!  We'll see...

The HA-S600 isn't that small. The HA-S650 is much smaller than the HA-S600. I have both. They have a warm balance. They are both closed though, so imo not suitable to use while bicycling. The JVC earbuds with earhooks, HA-EB75 is open and imo much more suitable to use while bicycling.

I didn't want to get in-ear cans as I want to be able to hear when others pass me on the trail.  I also can't stand how the cable rubbing and bumping on things is always audible.

While it's true that the 650s are smaller, they are not circumaural like the 600s are.  I don't like headphones that rest on my ears as they start to hurt very quickly.  And the size doesn't really bother me either; as they are light, and they appear to lie pretty flat against the head.

Thanks, but I think the 600s are going to do the job.

I just said the HA-EB75 earbuds with ear clips is open, so you will hear the surroundings with it if your music volume is low.
The HA-S600 and HA-S650 are closed though, so you won't hear your surroundings when wearing those.

The HA-S600 blocks surrounding sounds even better than the HA-S650. Imo it is not safe to use while cycling. If you want to use a circumaural headphone while cycling, then choose an open Sennheiser one.

Wow!

Anyway I got what I got, so I guess I'll learn the hard way.  If worse comes to worse, I'll return them and try something different.

Edit: Actually, as I've been thinking about it, I realize that the HA-S600s  are just what I was looking for, and I anticipate that they will do an amazing job!

Yes I could get the ear buds, but as I said earlier I really don't like using them when I'm active; too much noise.  I could get the 650s, but again I don't like headphones that sit on top of my ears, they make them hurt!  Since I don't blast my music, I really don't think I'll have any problems hearing my surroundings with the 600s being closed back.

For $30 out the door, these should do just fine.  Thanks!
