I was wondering how the isolation is on the 900s, as they are technically open but barely i want to know if they are good for portable use. I'm listen mainly to bass heavy music and i fear the 700s wont have the bass i need.

Yea, you keep that one; haven't heard of anyone remving that one. You might also enjoy the foam mod.

Have you seen the mod thread? It's quite clearly presented. Also, you may want to try bending the metal band to get a more comfortable fit.

Does anyone know if pads other than the RX900 fit the RX700? I am considering buying them as a more 'fun' alternative to the K271, but the cheap ear pads are a slight turn off.

The isolation is quite good, and if you do all the mods (dynamat on the back of the cup, stuffing in there as well) it gets even better. Perhaps not up to par with some closed cans, but the isolation seems really high to me.

That said, these are pretty horrible for portable use. They are really big, and really heavy, not to mention they look a bit silly.

I just did the complete felt removal mod. Not sure if had scratched the diaphragm or what but it definitely sounds clearer than before.
