JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Impressions Thread

The rabbit hole of headphone (or speakers) boosting software-audio plugins, built-in EQs, audio plugin-EQs, plugin-in hosts, VSTs, Compressors, Limiters, etc etc, isn't really a rabbit hole at all.....it's an Abyss.

Tell me about it.  I have quite a few hardware hooked up just for the JVC's.  But my latest hardware upgrade is desoldering the stock BB opa2134 opamp, solder in a 8 pin socket and using a Muses 8920 in my Parasound preamp for work.  At home I did the same with another Parasound preamp and use a Muses02 instead.  The Muses to my ears are way better for Basshead use.

Abyss! (great word)

Here's my concern: when I take the leash off the JVC's (even momentarily) and they take me to the earth's core where bass begins--the real abyss will be inside my head. I'll start having brain skips in conversation, difficulty w/balance & memory. MRI will show large voids between skull & brain adjacent to each ear.

OK, I made that up. But this is real: even w/o high volume, EQ, or bass-heavy music, it's already clear the JVC's do something very special w/bass. Fascinating headphones. They don't do everything equally well (understatement), but when it comes to the bass, they're like Usain Bolt running the 100 meters. And I haven't even cranked them yet...

Before I do, need to "get my affairs in order" -- check life insurance, healthcare proxy, bills paid, all that stuff.

I wish more people would post pics of their cans in here, it was really nice seeing your JVC 1000's man, look at them so sexy laying on the desk. They are calling out to you, they are saying, you know you want me, put me on your head, and I will take you for the ride of your life!

And regarding the guy talking about rabbit wholes and abyss, and trying to prepare for an apparantly pending zombie can apocalypse. Just hold on to your nuts, thats all you need do to prepare. And prepare for them to pop like never before as the bass literally pushes you orgasmic perportions. Its like, holy **** what was that? Hmm, knock knock, anyone in there, thats called bass yo.

I see I see.   Well the way you listen to them and the music you use, it's like Usain Bolt showing up to compete in the 200meter special olympics.

haha .

btw, apparently that dude is a dj.  kewl.

I like to break these out after a week or more of just stereo and earbud use.
Almost a year with these cans and I'm still shocked at how amazing the bass is.
my SZ1k never really get use unless i wanna wear over ears outside, cause i'll be damned if something happened to my SZ2000....
bumpin Bass Mekanik - The Crunk Collection on SZ2000. it is glorious

Haha, like bass deprivation. I tend to save my SZ2000 for special sessions as well, like when I know I have at least an uninterrupted hour or two. No kids, no wife, no work, break out the JVC!

Yo!

When I want to listen to bass, it's cause I'm chillin at home and have the time to appreciate bass, so I listen to my JVC 1K's. When I'm on the go, I listen on Bluetooth headphones because I just can't deal with wires, plus I don't want to look like a DJ who lost his job due to being an epic fail.

I have owned my JVC HA-SZ1000E bass cannons for almost 3-months now, wow how time flies. Unlike some of you who changed out your pads for comfortability, the real endurance test is to force your ears to conform like I have with the stock pads. Since experiencing new nut popping sound that these cans will give me, I so rarely listen to speakers anymore, my poor speakers have only gotten maybe 4-hours of use since I got these cans hehe.

Is it ok if I call you Crazy Guy from now on?  Because I'm gonna :D

Soooooo....speaking of your CORE use of factory pads, I have to comment.

So upon happy day shipment, I immediately put on the brainwavz velour pads that everyone and their goldfish on the interwebs said to get, didn't even try the stock.

Contentment.  Even ecstasy, but then......

I put on one factory pad and one Brainwavz (partially cuz the velour, cozy as they are, are lint farkin' magnets).

Being used to the SZ1000s at this point, I'm listening to some music, and the bass in the factory pad is SIGNIFICANTLY louder.  So much so, that I . checked the Pan to see if the audio was R/L unbalanced.

NOPE.

Factory pads= SIGNIFICANTLY more bass . (at least to my ears).  And honestly, they're not as uncomfortable for me compared to the rest of the SZ goon squad's feelings.  Actually, I'm not sure I can tell much of a difference, I wear these bassgasms for like 4-5 hours at a time.

Anywho, one man's opinion.

Well, I'm a basshead, so you could call me the crazy basshead if you want or just basshead.

And of course the velor pads are dust magnets! I am sure they are comfortable though, and like you say, most basshead's like to replace them pads on the SZ cans.

I however stuck with the stock pads and I have over 500 hours on them so far. And I have to agree with you, these SZ1K's got a lot of basshead. Listen to Wiz Khalifa on my level with the bass boosted version, and then crank them up yo, you gonna hear that bass.

And you know what else sounds good on these cans? Find yourself some badass dubstep tunes and crank it up loud, it will freaking rock your world!

Stock pads for the true basshead, velor pads for the wimps. jk lol :D

I use the pleather ones, the velour pads will bleed bass like crazy. I've tried the stocks, and the pleather HM5's, and there is so very little if any loss of bass that the comfort trumps the stockers by a mile. If preferring no sore ears makes me a wimp, call me Wimpy and I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today, lol.

Yesssir indeedy.

I have listened to On my Level.  Again and again.  A lot of trap too, gucci mane.  It's hit or miss with dubstep for me, but I recently found Benasis to be ass kicking.  If you're bored:
