Yeah, if they don't include fiber inserts or nozzles that alter the sound in a meaningful way, what's the point?

Well one out of three right... found some more information *searching google*, looks like they are indeed pre-modded FD01, there's also an early impression claiming that the bass has been tightened up slightly . The only apparent cosmetic change is that the outer edge is no longer knurled.

Price is also more in line with JP pricing than import prices: $250 for preorder, $280 once they're in stock.

Hopefully someone buys them just to tear them apart and see if there's anything different other than the filter :grimacing:

Question, Do you guys worn the FD01 over your Ear or hanging down... better yet what is the recommended ? Looking to join the Drop for the FDX.

Here's how I wear them, demonstrated on my miniDSP EARS. Note that this is the Linum Bax cable, but you can wear them the same way with stock cable.

I can wear both ways comfortably, I think I slightly prefer over-ear. For my ears insertion depth is about the same either way (no effect on SQ AFAICT, but YMMV).

Straight down for me. I'm used to that way with JVC since FX850, it's actually very comfortable, stay well and despite the weight, I don't feel it much.

Straight down for me too. Partly because I'm used to it from JVC FX1100/1200, but also because it's easier to put on and take off, when wearing glasses.

Has anyone tried final audio e tips on these? I found that they sound more focused in the lows and controlled in the highs

Yeah they are narrower bore. I really like the resultant change though, but then again I'm quite treble sensitive
