My trusty pair of Senn CX300 just broke today and I need to make an upgrade. I've already tried the RE0's, but they were just lacking too much in the lower range, so i returned them. Since then, I've had my eyes on the JVC FX500's, but I was a little deterred by the higher price.

I've heard the FX700 should be coming out this month and I was hoping that would drop the price of the FX500's some. Does anyone know when the new ones are suppose to drop? Do you think the FX500's will get that much cheaper?

If I had to take the plunge on some FX500's now, which retailer would you guys recommend?

Yea, I was curious about the shipping

If he's shipping, why are there absolutely no reviews of the FX700 yet!?

wait, I think I found one:

Google translate kinda butchers it though...

Original review here: 価格.com - 『エージング半日で』 ビクター HA-FX700 2㎎さんのレビュー・評価

NOTE: The review's title roughly translates to "At[/After] a Half-day of Burn-in"

Quick and dirty translation below. Hopefully I didn't butcher it as much as Google did.

Sound
V-shaped freq response with an emphasis on bass.
Bass has great volume and quality, but there are some excessive resonances in the midbass.
Upper midrange (around 1-2kHz) is slightly recessed depending on the source
Sibilance is not an issue
Treble is relatively natural and has sufficient quantity

Other
Due to its narrow insertion the FX700 is lacking in noise isolation but is easy to fit.
Sound leakage however can be a problem...

[Conclusion]
Although I was quite critical, I should state that this earphone's dynamism is suitable for orchestral works
Jazz and chamber music also sounds very full and is quite enjoyable.

I recommend the FX700 to anyone who is looking for a high quality dynamic canalphone.

I'd also recommend bluetin.com. I got my FX500's from them with great service

They've got 2 websites the Singapore site and the Japan site, the link to the Japan site is on the Singapore homepage, right-hand side where they've got both the FX500 & the FX700, enjoy

I'm looking forward to a full review of the FX700...

I am sorely tempted to get a pair of these soon, but - at the same time, am still preferring the FX1000 to the FX500 (I still do not know if it is sample variation, or genuine difference, but the FX500 sounds boomy, and sharp in comparison to the FX1000!), and am wondering how much benefit there will really be of getting the FX700 over the FX1000...

Decisions Decisions!!

Just do it! We all would love to hear your observations on the differences because you sure steered so many in the right direction with the 1000/500...
