Have some long plane flights coming next week. Going to china and would like some recommendations on in ear phones for on plane use. This will be my 1st in ear other the the ipod buds. Price and isolation is more important followed by comfort and sound quality. Just going to run with the 5.5g no amp
Thanks

I've got the marshmallows, and I did the kramer mod on them, and the standard tips arent bad, but I was annoyed at having to squish them to put them in so I switched them for sony EX51 tips. The stock tips isolate really well though.

Dude I cant express how much I think you should stay away from the KEB's, I bought a set just to see what the heck, man was I dissapointed, maybe I bought a bad set, but then again maybe not,

So all I can say is anything but the KEB's and you'd be ok, I dont think you can go wrong with JVC marshies, beign that there about the same price and all. JMTC's

Yup those KEB's suck hard. They are cheaply made, are extremely uncomfortable (they suck on your eardrum), and I don't even want to mention the sound.

The Marshmallow's are alright. Not great (i.e. bassy) but alright all things considered.

The Marshmallows are a value favorite on Head-Fi. But I'd suggest a pair of Creative EP630's if you can get them before you leave (around $30 online ... anyone know where they can be purchased in a B&M store?). Those are two good "economy" canal phones. What's your budget? (The "Head-Fi Formula" would be to take that and increase it by at least 50 percent.

If you can/want to spend more, you can get the excellently isolating Etymotics ER6i's for under $80 online. (I consider the cost of mine to be part of each airline ticket -- and they pay for themselves after a few flights, cutting down on jet noise fatigue and blocking out chattering passengers, screaming babies, etc. Not a bassy, "fun" earphone on the ground, but I consider it a travel essential for its isolation and portability. But the Etys take getting used to ... you're leaving this earphone thing until shortly before you leave, so maybe simpler canal phones would be better in your situation (easy to adapt to). Just realize that not all in-ears isolate the same -- canal phones such as the Marshmallows and the Creatives don't block out as much sound as IEMs such as Etymotics, Shure, Westone, Ultimate Ears, Future Sonics, and so forth.)

Hey, you can go up to the $900 range on consumer IEMs ... but even the Marshmallows would be better than non-in-ear earbuds. Not only do earbuds fall out, they let in a lot of noise and you have to turn them up loud in loud environments, hurting your hearing and irritating the people sitting around you.

You're doing the right thing in upgrading from earbuds for airplane travel. Have a good trip.

Got these earphones today after I was disappointed with lack of bass with Etymotic ER-6i. Although the mids and highs are not as clear as the ETy's, these have got to be the BEST $25 I have spent on earphones! They are comfy, provide very good isolation and have tighter bass than any other canalphone I have tried in the sub $50 category!!!

If you don't want to spend too much, then these are pefect! I got the green ones and they look bloody awesome too!!!
