Actually they are awesome! However, the tinitus in my left ear is acting up so I am taking a few days off from phones to give my ear a rest. I wanted to listen to them so bad last night, but I just knew I needed to take a break for at least a few days. So I just figured I would be helpful and offer a fellow head-fier and opportunity to check out these wonderful cans and maybe at the same time I would be able to check out a pair I have not heard before as well, but alas, he declined my offer.

Tinnitus can be a nuisance, let's hope it's enough to rest the ears for a few days. That's my main worry when listening to headphones, I usually try to keep the volume down but sometimes I just get lost in the music and want to really feel the groove
. I rarely have any problems though, I'm probably just lucky.
Anyway, I'm reassured by your continuing recommendation of these cans. I'm certainly looking forward to receiving mine. I've heard that PriceJapan are usually fast, I hope that's true
. Unfortunately international money wire seems to be slow. It will be an interesting summer as I expect the D2000 to arrive in the within a week or so as well. It certainly is expensive to spend time on Head-Fi.
Btw, thank's for the music recommendations. I have King Crimson on order, for some reason I have overlooked them in the past.

My ear seems to be feeling better tonight! However, I am resisting the urge to listen this evening! I have 2 King Crimson HDCD's, one is Red and the other one is In the Court of the Crimson King. They both are awesome in HDCD format on these headphones. Red is my favorite however. One More Red Nightmare is an AMAZING tune and Bill Bruford is amazing on this track! Anyways, I hope you get them soon and keep us posted!

I find that when i use IEM's I get real bad ringing but with my HD650's it goes away and faster when I use them. It doesn't make since to me but the 650's actaully make the ringing, that I have had very bad at times reduce or disapear.
It's only in my left ear at this point and actually acting up as I write this. My problem is that I listen way to loud and I need to stop that. By the way, on your photo's (which are amazing by the way) I was wondering what lenses you were using on your 5D? I started a thread on your pics I thought they were so amazing.

I just don't get the closed can thing. They all sound weird! I returned to my trusty HD650 (w/ Equinox). As to the so called "veil" - depends on the synergy with amp IMO - I don't hear it - just natural and right. Seems JVC-Victor was going for the "speaker cabinet" effect with these - hard to know really.

Just got them this morning
. Payment was confirmed friday a week ago and the cans were shipped from PriceJapan this tuesday - pretty fast I must say.
I am certainly looking forward to listening to these later in the evening, I'll probably get back with some impressions after that. And I also have the D2000 newly arrived, mmmm, this should be an interesting comparison.
Btw, I have to confess that I tend to prefer closed cans. And that's not only because I try not to disturb the family late at night, I do enjoy the SQ as well. Guess we are all different

Oh boy, this is killing me!
Now, if I get some $$$ in my tax return, I'm jumping on DX1000 bandwagon.
Thats it, I had it - reading all that good stuff, I'm gonna check them cans out.
