So I've been waiting to receive the $299 Sennheiser HD650s from J&R I finally pulled the trigger on after months and months of debate--and the box arrived today. I get home, wait for hours until the baby goes to bed, until I finally have some time to get them out of the box and check these headphones out.

Unfortunately, in the box, there's the box for HD650s--but I open it up--and the box is empty.

Unreal. Now I get to find out what happens next...

Maybe they took the headphones out of the box as a demo and put the box back on the shelf. When it came time to ship the headphones, they grabbed the empty box by mistake.

Hope it works out for you... hopefully J&R doesn't give you any hassle or "finger pointing" as to who's fault it is.

Yeah, I'll call them tomorrow and see what happens. If worse comes to worse I'll dispute the charge on my credit card I guess...but I'm hoping J&R will do the right thing. I've never had anything like this happen before--on eBay or anywhere else.

man, how can they make mistake like this? It might be the postman take out the headphone and deliver the box?

HI: Do not feel alone. I got my big box from J&R. I opened it and then the headphone Cass and inside all there was is a grado adapter. NO HEADPHONES.
I checked the tape and it seemed to be not tampered with. It took me a long time to decide to buy the 650 and then this.

I called them and a investigation is under way. I think they claim it is UPS fault and UPS is going to make good on them. I am still waiting for my headphones. I think in a few more days they might send out a pair to me I hope.

Look call them and tell them you talked to ltucci1924. Here is the supervisor phone # you should call.

Keep the box they might need it back. They will arrange for a pick up.

It will take up to 10 days to investigate. Mine has been 3 days so far.
When you call and if you get voice mail leave your name and phone # and JOE will call you back as soon as he can. He seems like a very fair man. His work shift starts at 2-11 pm.

Sorry but in a way I feel relieved somewhat that this has happened to you also because I was sick over this and felt that I was the only one this has happened to. Go get your headphones. Be persistent but nice.

I really highly doubt UPS had anything to do with this.

If the package was weighed before shipping, that may be a way to prove the headphones weren't there. Of course it's likely J&R have automatic weight measurements or shipping costs for each product in their computers, or weight wasn't a factor in this particular shipping method. Still, it's worth looking at.

I can't believe this has happened to others. I had already called J&R before checking back at this thread--but pretty much everything your wrote here is what's going to happen. They're investigating and doing a weight verification. If the weight was correct before leaving the warehouse (or wherever these are at) then they know UPS stole them. Personally, the outer box really looked fine to me--I'm pretty sure they have a theif internally (although as another poster suggested, Sennheiser could also be responsible). This manufacturer's box was clearly opened though--I would think if it arrived from Sennheiser that way someone at J&R would notice. Or not--who knows.

Yeah, I felt the same way though...kind of sick and disturbed. What a damper on the purchase.

I got a supervisor named GREG at x1226. He also sounded like he was going to be pretty good--but the *outcome* on this is everything. If I wasn't so sick about the whole thing--I'd be furious. I had fully expected to spend some real time with the 650s this weeknd and now I have to wait until Monday just to even get an update on my case. I ordered these on 8/16--so I already had to wait 8 days only to receive an empty box. Now there's going to be even more waiting.

If I had read this thread *before* I made this purchase, I definitely would not have ordered from J&R though--$299 or not. If this has happened to 2 people here, it's probably happened to a lot more other people as well.

If your order was shipped UPS your packaged should have been weighed. Then it's an open & shut case. In any event, J&R will do the right thing. Mix up may have occurred at Sennheiser.
