Well, just picked up the Senn PX200's on my lunch hour at Virgin Megastore. With a 15% off coupon, I paid $54 for them. I was looking for a closed can equivalent to my Sportapros, and these are as close as I've gotten.

I didn't bring a portable with me, so when I got back to the office, I plugged them into the headphone jack of my Sony CFD-V17 boombox and I'm digging the sound. Took a few seconds to get the seal right, but it seems pretty easy. The cups pivot on a ball end, so that may be why its a little harder for some to get the seal, but my ears must be shaped just right.

These seem to be much clearer than my Sportapros, but still have excellent bass. I think I've come to realize that I don't like cans that are completely accurate, and I don't care for cans that are too bright. I like just enough high end to sound crisp, and no more than that. These seem to fit the bill perfectly. They don't have the "airiness" of my Sportapros, but the mids don't seem muddy at all, like they tend to sound on the Sportapros. All in all, an excellent purchase for me.

I'm anxious to see how these will pair with my Airhead amp when I get home, and with my MZ-R30 which is on its way to me.

Just thought I'd share my good fortune

Now who wants to buy my AKG K141S's for $45 shipped?

Congratulations on your new headphones. Welcome to Team PX200!

I find the mids on the PX200s to be excellent. A great portable rock 'phone.

I've used mine with the MZ-R50, Airhead, Super Mini and Meta42. The amp seems to really open up the highs and lift the "veil" that seems to be present on these cans. The Meta performs the best by the way, but the Airhead does help.

How are you PX200's doing?

You know, it's really funny, even though I have nicer headphones I end up using my PX200's more than any other set of cans I own. The sound quality is pretty damn good (especially when connected to my amp), they offer decent isolation and they are just so comfy!

Yep, I liked them straight out of the box... I guess it wasn't hard for me to get "the seal" at all. I can't wait until the pads loosen up a little bit (they seem pretty stiff out of the box). It's good to know that if I like them now, then they'll just sound better once the drivers have loosened up a bit. THe airhead did improve the sound, even clearer, but without losing the bass, which was nice and tight. Last night and today they've had a mix of Prince, Eminem and D12 breakin' 'em in... so by the time tomorrow rolls around, it's on!

oh yes, they sing sweetly with an amp. and the pads have softened some.

unfortunately, i just got bored with mine... the sound is so neutral it borders on indifference to me. i still love them, but i wanted to try something new. so i got a pair of MX500's which i'm using for the first time right now (they arrived while i was at school). now that i have almost every cheap set of cans out there, i'm going to do a review with all of them once i get plenty of listening time with the MX500's. the review would be KSC35 vs. PX200 vs. MX500 vs. new iPod buds vs. KSC50. maybe i'll include the SR60, probably not, though, because they're way too unportable and pricey compared to the rest.

I look forward to hearing your comparisons, especially since I have many of those same headphones.
