I have a Zune, Xenos APC headphone amp and Grado SR60's, i've ordered some 580's for home use, I listen to alot of Jazz. I love my grado's but they tend to fatigue my ears after about 30 minutes at time. I've never heard high end Senn's before, but i'm looking forward to a less bright more laid back relaxing sound.

Be sure to do about 50 hours of burn-in, at normal listening volume music.

Then, use your SR60 until your ears get sore, and put on the HD580 -- you will feel your ears actually smile!

I agree: you are in for a treat. In my view, the 580 has the best cost/performance ratio of any headphone.

They were 149.99 at NewEgg, I love my Grado's they have such detail, but they are very bright and fatiguing, I'm looking for a home only headphone that I can listen to for long stints, Grado's are great rock headphones, but I want something for my Jazz and R&B, Pop etc.....

I think having both sets will round out my collection.....

Is it true that the 580's are built in Ireland? I've heard the newer 600 series is made in china, can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks....

Yep, my HD580's say made in Ireland, I ordered them less than a month ago. I'll also add that the 1HA-EPC amp is also a wonderful addition to the 580's.

My HD580 was purchased this year, and the box is marked, "Made in Ireland." As far as I am aware, the only Senns that were made in China were the HD595--and this was only for a period, as there was a fire at the Senn plant in Ireland. Here is an informative link:

I try to avoid Chinese gear as much as possible, mostly for socio-political reasons, but also for reasons pertaining to quality.

That's exactly how I would describe my pair.

They Came in! Just 1 day, they are tougher to push than the Grado's, they are much more laid back than the SR60's But there is a place for both headphones in my collection, the Grado's are more portable, and for Rock they can't be beat, but for Home use and Jazz these Senns sound good. I love them both for different reasons. But the Senns are well worth the money.

Newegg is still the fastest place I've ever ordered from in regards to shipping - they are awesome. I'm glad I picked up my 580's from Amazon a couple months ago when they were $125, it really was a complete steal.

Not the people; mostly fine folks. Just haven't much trust in the leaders, both politically and industrially.
