Just got the Zen Micro.

I got it in a dark blue. Initial reaction: It's the cutest / 'happiest' (depending on your outlook) player I've ever seen in my life. If you thought the iPod was bad for your manly side, then this is... well, you might as well have Carson Kressley hanging on your arm.

Creative to spend $100m on marketing? I'd rather they spent $10m on rewriting Mediasource and the whole Zen suite... it's really needed. The software is a POS next to iTunes. Or they should just throw some money in j.River's direction and bundle their manager with the Micros.


Excuse the crappy pictures. Bad light. I've got to say this as well... This player is definitely styled for the ladies, even in Dark Blue (or black).

It's not all doom and gloom though. I'm really liking the functionality of this little player. Depending on which software I end up using with it (I'll have to check compatibility with Media Center) there's a strong possibility I'll be keeping it.

The iPod Mini is Bauhaus, sleek androgynous style. The Zen Micro is not. It's a somewhat undeveloped design style in comparison, with many elements of it just not going together.


Even in their relative shapes, it's kind of the difference between a statue of Bastet and a Paleolithic fertility statue.

imo the pink is the best color, since my friend has a blue one which is kinda lackluster.

I think if they made the back of the Zen Micro the same color as the front, it'd be awesome and everyone would buy one right now.

No biggie, I'm not thinkin' I'm the manly-est man who ever wore a digital audio player, and yes, I have an incredibly MANLY vaja case in Black Aniline for my iRiver iHP-120.

Now see, I'd much rather see the pink mini that this one girl wears at the gym I go to. She has custom pink Nike Shox NZ, to go along a pink top and pink shorts...and a pink iPod mini. VERY cute...
