Got my sr60 today from headroom along with my pair of ksc75. Burnt them in on fm radio for at least 10 hours today. They are acctually pretty comfortable for me and I dont see what all the gripe is about. I do have a smaller head, but I dont know if I bend the headband too much they fall off, so they are fine to me. I do think I sort of enjoy the circumaural sound better, but none the less they are a great set of cans for the money. I think I like them better than my 280 pro. Much more fun sound, I catch my self jamming out, singing the words to songs, and toe tapping. Great bass impact and slam, better than my 280 for sure. The 280 are a little more detailed though, and male vocals seem a little veiled with the sr60. They do leak a ton though, i thought you guys were lying this whole time!

Main reason I got them was to compare to find out which sound style I like, and for emi-portability out of my ipod unamped and when the HD625 come in the mail, we will see even though I wont have an amp for 2 more weeks.

Overall a great great starter can especially for the ipod user!

got my sr60 today also.

Put flat pads on them. THey definatley were better then i expected, and even out of this soundcard i enjoyed though.

Glad i put the flat pads to use, they had no place on my ms2i, but on these sr60
really make them sound nice.

well HD625 is what I call the HD600w/650 drivers that I purchased from [AK]Zip!

I am still not sure yet, I will probably end up selling them eventually, maybe to save up for a pair of the new super.fi 3 for 100$ new! Or if I end up liking the sound signature more than that of the HD625 then I will sell both and try out a pair of MS2.

LOL, it's great that new model numbers are invented everyday!

mjg, how would you compare the MS2i to the sr60? I know its a rather broad comparison, but just in case i want to upgrade to the MS2i. What amp do you use with it? Would I even need an amp? If I could get great sound out of the MS2i without an amp than I relaly dont even want to bother with one.

This is all of course if I dont like the HD625 which i highly doubt will happen but you never know!

Well...

You really cannot compare them in a fair way. Of course ms2i will need an amp, and when you uggrade to any cans of that sort of calibur, not having an amp first becomes the weaker link, you should have an amp first. Nowadays i use a grace 901, which sounds great with the grados, punchy dynamic sound,
controlled and detailed.

If you force me to compare them, the signature of sr60 is pleasant, warm midrange, emphasis on treble, thoughg rolled off of course compared to my recabled ms2i, or stock ms2i for that matter.

MS2i in general are a more balanced sound, throw a sound stage, faster dynamics, controlled low end, and not nearly as muddy/warm as the sr60, th ough this sound is pleasnt don't get me wrong.

Put it this way, i like m ms2i more then any other grado i've heard, just to give you an idea. So it's not a good comparison for me to make here. I've heard just about all grado headphones.

Don't go straight for higher end cans until you really put a decent system together, i dont know how you can have opinions on your senns without an amp, tthey sound like crap unamplified.

I dont have an opinion yet as they havent come, and i will most likely wait until the amp comes to compare.

thanks for the comparison even though it was an unfair and hard one to make! I am going to get a Little Dot II tube amp to start out with, and the reason I got it over the LDI was so I could use it with lower impendance cans. (plus it has a more crisp sound).

thanks again

oh, sorry i just overlooked that you didnt have them yet.

Well yea, it seems you got the right idea.

It is a hard comparison to make. Yet, to me all of the john grados are somewhat in the same vein you know... It's just in this comparison the improvements are alot to speak of, so it's not fair.

yet, i don't see how you can like sr60s personally, and not like ms2i, but who knows with head-fi right ; )

well the only higher end phones I have tried are the 280 pro and the sr60. and i think i like the sr60 better but the 650 are in a totally different league than the 280 pro. Even though I might like the sr60 that doesnt mean that i might not like some sennheiser phones better that i havent tried.
