oh not to mention only 3 days I've had him
He's already virtually house broken

w/o a crate
Already listens to his name, "no", "down", "off", and "Sit"
and being a lab, they're lazy and well tempered

What an adorable puppy. We have a yellow lab, and she is most mellow dog I have ever owned.

And by the way, she's not sad in this picture. She had a swim in the pool, a nice walk, and a healthy dinner. She is about to shut her eyes and take a nap.

Awww...very cute.

We had black and chocolate labs when I was a kid. I've not had a dog since, and would like to have one again. We have two kids, including a 3 year old...when he's a couple years older, we'll get one.

My black lab just passed away a month back...seeing your pics remind me of him and I just bawled like a baby before making this post. You guys have a great time together...spend as much time as possible together because even that will not feel like enough when the time comes...

Walk, play, eat, sleep...he will be the only friend who will wag his tail at you after you yell at him...the only family member who will come to the door in the middle of the night...the only soul with no ill will towards you come what may...

It is a special relationship and I cant wait to get back into another one when I have my own place. Till then I will live vicariously through you

Post pics regularly - these suckers grow fast

They love water - natural swimmers - dont deprive him of this - let him loose where its legal and let him swim his heart out...great exercise in case you are not in the mood for a walk or if it is too hot...

Oh boy I can go on and on...

I've long ago decided that as soon as I have my own place to live (which more or less implies I have *some* financial freedom), I'm getting a dog... almost certainly a golden retreiver though. ^^

Cool pup. Be warned though - an old housemate had a couple of black labs (mother and daughter combo actually). His girlfriend made the mistake of leaving her new 8-up Doc Matens out one day, and by the time she came home, they had been turned into shoe-docs by the hungry puppy dogs!

Seems they liked the taste of British leather

Hey!
We have a Lab too (sort of).
She's a mutt that we got at the local pound and she's great. I call her a mini lab because she looks just like a black lab, only smaller.
She's a great guard dog, loves to play fetch, and is very strict about her routines. I swear she can tell time. She will come get you when it's time to get up in the AM, she tells you it's time for her walks at the same time every day, eats at the same time every day even though food is there all the time. She never gets on the furniture, hasn't made a mess in the house, and doesn't tear things up other than her tennis balls.

Labs are great dogs

so far so good with puppy

4th day with Milo and he's already been able to learn sit, come, roll over, and peepee

problem I noticed with my lab, is that he is far to submissive, so it almost seems like he is afraid to notify me if he has to go to the washroom, I just notice he gets resetless and goes to the back door
but doesn't yip or anything

otherwise he's just brilliant, already easy to walk, and will not pull away from me at all
and I think almost fully understand's heel cept sometimes will go to the wrong side
(right rather than left, cuz I need to hold my gunz) also just joking, but I do belive heel does refer to the left side

other thing is too...
I think he's pretty big for a 8-9ish weeker, at about 17 pounds
but I'm unsure how much to feed him
I generally keep it about a cup per feedings x 2
however I think he poops alot (4-5) times a day
but the package states he should be eating at that size closer to 2 x 1 1/2
a day
I tried also to leave out 2 cups of food, and see how much he eats within 20 minutes
but after 3 minuites he ate it all already
GAH
silly guy

What are you feeding Milo?
We have found that Eukanuba dog food works well for us. It's very filling so they don't have to eat as much, it's easy on her stomach, and it's also very nutritious without a lot of filler.
That means your dog doesn't poop as much either.
The vitamins in the food are good also. After we switched her to this brand her coat went from drab to beautiful, healthy and shiny.
It's a little more expensive is the only downside.
