Afer considering different hard drive based units for a while now, I just received Creatives Jukebox 2. After just a few hours, I learned how to use the Play Center, not bad and transfered about 600 songs pretty easily in just maybe 15 minutes using a USB 1.1 connection. For the price along with a $50 rebate available at a few retailers, it is not bad considering its 10 GB of storage capacity. The sound quality is decent for what it is, although based on its size and weight, its not all that portable. No lack of power and the different EQ and sound options are interesting. What is also nice is that its battery is replaceable!! What do Zen or Ipod owners do about the battery after a few years? Most of what I have transfered so far has been ripped with WMP using VBR 135-215 Kbps or downloaded as an MP3's at 128 Kbps.
What other ripping/encoding formats might I consider that are compatible?
What might I expect by installing the lastest new firmware and drivers?
The NJB 2 does not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive players but at least you dont have to deal with what to do about battery replacement after a few years. I also bought a 2 year extended warantee for $20.
Although it does not have a line out, using the headphone out connected to my promedia 2.1 is not bad. I have yet to try connecting it to my higher end component system.
I have also yet to try it with my Meta-42 and my HD600's but I dont think that will be disappointing.
I have not even opened the stock headphones that it comes with, my Sony V-6's, Eggos 66's and KCS-35 seem like a good match. I am probably planning on getting another JB 2 for my nephew who is 13 and want to get him non clip on phones to go with it.
What other portable type headphones might be a good match for this player?
