I just got a HeadRoom little with the premium module installed in from the HeadRoom Educational Loaner program. I've only listened to a couple of songs so far, but I like this thing! I have it paired up with my Wadia 830 feeding my Denon AH-D950s and the sound definitely has my foot tapping. Right now I have the crossfeed engaged and the effect is rather subtle. I have only listened to this on one CD so far, can anyone tell me if the effect will vary based on the source, i.e. will it change from CD to CD?

palmer,

I've only tried a standard Little. Crossfeed became pronounced with certain recordings, but always sounded like it was there. I think the "listen for a week with crossfeed and see if you can go back" idea is the best to follow when first trying it. In the end, I liked the Little more with crossfeed than without it. With some albums, the Crossfeed effect is great. If you have time, I'm interested in your results with the Wadia into the Little.

Something to try, if you can: using "stereo from mono" recordings (such as early Beatles), use your computer to downmix the "stereo" into mono, then burn it into CDR. I found comparing badly separated albums with crossfeed and downmixed CDRs without crossfeed interesting.

I have a DVD-LA95 portable CD/DVD-Video/DVD-Audio player that will do crossfeed on DVD sources though not CD. That particular player has a much more pronounced effect that also degrades the sound quality more than the Little seems to. I find that, just as you mentioned, I still don't notice it as much when I first turn it on as when i turn it off, so your suggestion of giving it time sounds like a good one.

That stereo to mono experiment sound inteesting, I'll take a stab at it if I get time!
