I think I know what you are saying. I am *just* about done burning in my 80's, and, all I can say is that the sound is "immediate." Be patient, or, as someone else suggested, try some different material. Despite a bit of awkwardness (or at least a feeling of awkwardness) with these things mounted on my noggin, I must say I have never heard music as I have with the 80's. Objective example: I did a screensaver thingie the other day for a friend featuring Elton John's "Tiny Dancer." Trust me, I have listened to this tune a minimum of 10,000 times since 1970-whatever. With the Grados, I heard old Sir Elton smack his lips between phrases. For the first time. Now that is detail!

Even though I myself am not fond of the Grado sound, its undeniable that a lot of people here DO like them... and one thing they do definetly appear to be, as you say ~ is detailed

true true.............it is very hard to get over, still so amazing. I was listening to a choir thing earlier, and *every* voice is present. The voices are *differentiated.* If there are 12 people in the choir, you can hear 12 voices.
