Juli@ vs 0404 vs 0404USB vs 1212m

Ok, it's not about the price. (other than the fact that I can't probably afford an external DAC)

I'd be using it with X-CanV3 and HD650.
Might buy a laptop so 0404usb could be a good choice, but is it worse when compared to 1212m/0404/juli@(in SQ) ? Also, are there any (other) good external soundcards (sub 200eur)?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 0404 USB has the same DACs as the 0404, so not as good (by measurements) as the 1212m. The Juli is not as good (again by measurements) as the 0404.
One thing to bear in mind is that the 0404 USB is very new with a different driver system from the 0404/1212m etc. so you might want to wait a while while they work out any driver issues.

While the DAC on the juli@ is not as good on paper as the 0404 (but only slightly), most people who I have seen that compared the two cards greatly preferred the juli@. Also, the digital out on the Juli@ is exactly the same as the Lynx22, making it a very attractive card for use with an external DAC (which you will eventually get).

I have used both 0404..1212 for some time and now Juli@. The Juli@ sounds great and with a xternal Dac has really made a difference. I am using a HD 650 and some DT 880's with Cardas. There is better seperation in the sound. All and all a real positive upgrade for me..
