Hi I have a question about the jotunheim. Is the modi multibit dac module worth the extra 100 dollars than the balanced dac?

I second this. Also is the jotemheim even worth buying in general?

Ahh ok. Thanks, for sure. I’m always conflicted on getting the built in DAC. I’ll keep this in mind. Sometimes I wish I can just fricken buy all these and try all combos and then choose the one I like the most. Bc you can read all these reviews but at the end of the day you have to listen yourself with your own ear holes and choose your personal liking ya know what I mean?A new one may be coming sometime in 2025 or 2026. Personally I had the jot 1 with the multi bit installed. Got the Bifrost 2 and the difference was huge. Not a small incremental improvement at all. At least for me. I purchased the Jot 2 without the dac card.
Are you talking about the possible "Super Jot"/ "Jot +"?A new one may be coming sometime in 2025 or 2026. Personally I had the jot 1 with the multi bit installed. I'm thinking about a long overdue upgrade from an Asgard 2 to Jotunheim 2. I'm debating DAC possibilities. I'd love a Bifrost but that would have to wait. It's either one of the DAC cards or the Modius or Modi Multibit or utilize a DAC I have at home. I listen to a LCD-3 among others and do want to access the Jot's balanced capabilities. I've just purchased the Fiio K11 to use in a different listening space, and I have an old Nuforce Icon, so I can use those DACS if I hold off for a Bifrost. If end up getting a DAC now, would anyone recommend the Modius, Modi Multibit or perhaps multibit card as I move through my upgrade process?

When I purchased my Jot2 in March 2023, it was as a bit of an experiment to see if I'd even use a desktop rig. Thus, I had a similar "dilemma" on my hands. Ultimately, I decided to opt for the ES-9028 DAC card option. Fast forward about to August 2023, and I then purchased a Bifrost 2/64.I'm thinking about a long overdue upgrade from an Asgard2 to Jotuneheim 2. I'm debating DAC possibilities. Looking back, I kinda wish I had bought a separate, less expensive, DAC like a MMB for my testing period. At least then I could've sold it when I bought the BF2/64. Now I've been using my setup with an unused internal DAC card in my Jot2 for ~18 months, hahahaha. Oh well, not really a big deal, I just feel like it's a bit of a waste.

That's very helpful. I'm leaning toward using one of my budget DACS whilst saving for a Bifrost or more likely get an external Modi multibit or Modius and then considering an upgrade as you alluded. Not having heard a multibit, it's hard to choose. I understand it's warmer. I like warm sound sigs. OTH, I like the Modius in the fact that it's balanced which will work with my LCD-3. I tend to listen to a lot complex metal, prog and rock in addition to the usual audiophile friendly jazz and classical. My intuition tells me the more neutral sound of the Modius might be the better call.
