Anthony Rooley (lute player), The Consort of Musicke recorded Dowland on L'Oiseau-Lyre a few years ago with absolutely wonderful Emma Kirkby as soprano.

I have the album "The Third Booke of Songs" from this series - the last of three volumes. It's a gem.

According to my Penguin Guide which dates from 1992, the Deller Consort has recorded Dowland and would be a great alternative, again if you can locate the recordings.

There is also a recording on Hyperion with the Extempore String Ensemble.
