OK..seeing how this is the job-hunting season, I have gotten down to 2 offers, and I can't decided; I need help!

Offer 1: I will be working in a top 10 US patent firm for companies like HP, Marvell, and other silicon valley big names. I will be doing patent prosecution, advising, and transactional work. I will deal with inventors and the IP department of their respective companies.

Offer 2: I will be working in a small/medium patent firm that is not really well-known working for start-ups in the silicon valley. I will be doing the same kind of work as Offer 1 except I will be interfacing with inventors, the executive teams and maybe VCs.

The pays are comparable, work hours are comparable, stress is comparable (very stressful

, work environment is a little better in the smaller firm (I get an office with a view...LMAO)

Which one!!!???

I would go with offer number 2. Being able to interact with VCs, inventors and executive teams may lead you to establish some valuable connections down the road. Network connections are very important, equally or more important than your actual skills.

Without a doubt, go with offer #2.

In addition, it is easier to move up the ranks in a small company. If the company does have potential and become big later on, you'll have seniority and more likely to be promoted to a higher position.

I prefer mid-sized companies, if stable...

I mean all things being equal (and if you don't need the experience, meaning you're good enough already - which I think it is since you got 2 offers), I'd personally go for the one that has better work environment.

You'll be spending most of your life from Monday to Friday at work, might as well choose the one that has nicer people to work with.

PS: Damn you, I haven't even got a job offer yet til now...

uh..actually I have 0 experience (isn't that what on-job training is for?), and I narrowed it down to 2 (I inferred >2

I implied from the general consensus that if I am looking for experience, I should go for the bigger firm - which is probably wise.

Hehe I'm in no place to make any recommendations, but an office with a view certainly sounds tempting!

I prefer to call it the 'reasonable person' pull

'life choice'? naw I get another chance to 'do over' in 2 years; so if I make a bad choice (although both are excellent choices IMO) I can just 'reset' if you know what I mean
