HI: I just ordered a JMT PIMETA Home
Hammond enclosure (like the PPA)
- AD8610/8620 op-amps
- Stacked output buffers
- Class A
- Alps Blue Velvet potentiometer
- Elna Cerafine and WIMA capacitors
- Vishay/Dale resistors
- Cardas gold plated RCAs
-Neutrik headphone jack chrome nose
I never heard a Pimeta so I hope I like it. I am downgrading from a PPA because my source is my minidisc deck and 595 cans.

I am also considering a Home Amplifier from JMT. Please let me know your impressions when you receive it. I plan to use it with the Senn HD590 - should be very similar to the sound you get for your HD595.

Hi Lou-
I think you will like JMT's Pimeta. I have mine paired with the Senn 590s fed by a tosh SD3950 and I really love the sound.

Top notch amp for my applications and gear in my humble opinion.

That amp (Pimeta) is an outstanding value, Lou. The performance belies the price in a big way.

HI: The PIMETA Home is said to be better than a META42 right? If so what would you say its percentage would be from a META42 to a PPA amp? Example- The PIMETA Home might be 50 percent better than A META42 or it might be 70 percent of a PPA? What do you think?

From what I've heard, the PIMETA vs. META42 relies more on personal preference than anything, and the performance difference is rather minor.

The Pimeta has a similar sound to the Meta42, but there is notably better channel separation, which I would say places it somewhere between the Meta42 and PPA.

As far as percentage-wise, that is hard to say- it depends on how wide you view the gap between the Meta42 and PPA. I'd venture a guess and say that if the Meta was a 1 and the PPA was a 10, then perhaps the Pimeta would be a 3.3 or 4.

The PPA is different for a lot of reasons other than channel separation, and all three amps use different buffers, so they do have their own characteristics. I have a Meta42 that I still love and enjoy listening to often.
