got to the side panels so i will need some of that material too.

The cat used to like sleeping in the headphones for some reason

I must say that, imho, I have never heard /anything/ (speakers or headphones) that sounds better than the Jecklin Electrostats so i think that thy are well worth some TLC & new pads

They are excellent headphones, and have more potential behind them than the Transformer (even the best one) shows. But the Ergo AMT is better.

I personally prefer the Float to the Lambda.

I sold Jecklin Floats in the mid 70s to the early 80's. Robert Allen Walch (not sure about the spelling of the last name) imported them into the US, along with Transcriptors products. He was located in Milwaukee. If someone could track him down (he would be pretty old or dead by now) he might have some spares.

Hi

I have some Jecklin Float Electrostats with PS2 that have lost a channel.
I know about Jecklin Electrostatic Headphones refurbishing / repair but I can't afford to send them off to him currently.

I do have a multimeter though - is there any basic troubleshooting I can do meanwhile, until I get some funds? I have heard that electrostatics typically can involve large voltages so would welcome some advice before I start poking around ...

Check the fuses inside the adapter box. Other then that there isn't much to go wrong.

It could just be a loose soldering connection on the cable hooked up to the drivers.

Thanks for that! I don't know why I missed them - indeed one of the fues has blown. The other is sound but has some resinous-type deposits inside the glass - not sure of the significance of that.

They are marked T1.6/250V with ESKA on the ends, and 20mm in length.

Are generic slow-blow ones suitable? Or do I need 'audiophool' special frozen/plated ones?

Maplin list several different ratings - any ideas which one?

If a simple replacement fuse works then I might just be able to afford the re-foam refurb!
