If you are driving HD800 ampless direct from Macbook, I think JH13 are better! If not, I don't know what you prefer.

IEM and fullsize do not have the same type of sound as you can see

I, for example, would not buy JH13 if I had HD800 and UE11 pro and no amp...

Funny, because I would take JH13 over ampless HD800 in a split second, and I haven't even heard the damn thing.

I think the price vs performance is there with both.

Agreed. Both are among some of the best headphones ever made, and are cheaper, if not equal in price at most, to their competition. And they are both in current production, which cannot be said of nearly all of the others (only the Stax OmegaII MkII, and perhaps 4070 come to mind).

Not necessarily. If you want high performance in a headphone, the only ones that compare are either out of production or more expensive. You can grab an AKG K-1000 for marginally less than a HD-800, but you'll be buying used and they only come up for sale every so often.

I'd buy the HD-800 for practicality - you can resell it. Custom IEMs won't fit someone else.

yeah your right... but the problem is if the JH13 can par the HD800 i would prefer it rather buying an amp for the HD800.. ill just amp my JH13 with an Minibox-E

And in that way you will end up with 2 custom IEMs. One that you love (perhaps more than HD800, just perhaps) and the other one that will collect dust.
