JBL LSR305 vs Monitor Audio Bronze 2 for near field listening. Will be used in a desk setup. They cost around the same in my country (Denmark) and i know I'd have to get an amplifier for the Monitor Audio Bronze 2.

I'm wondering which of these 2 speakers would work best in a small room (81 square feet/ 7,5 square meters) and for near field listening. I'll be placing the speakers on my desk with a distance of 1,2 meters / 4 feet from the wall.

MA's tweeter is more refined and provide better imaging.
Bass is tighter on MAs, but more extended on LSRs

MAs are drier sounding and just a tad more transparent, LSRs are rounder and lusher.

I would pick MAs over LSR.

If you want something sweeter and delicate at the expense of some neutrality, check DALI Zensor 1 or 3

How would you compare the Dali Zensor 1's to the Bronze 2's?

Bronze 2 is tight and punchy, neutralish speaker, with slightly analytical/dry but very detailed treble response.
Zensor 1 is more rounded in the bass (with less impact) and it's a much sweeter sounding speaker, less of a reference studio-like response, but really pleasing with the right recordings. Zensor 3 is along the same lines as Zensor 1 but more full bodied.

I would pick Bronze 2 for fast peaced music in general, and also classical, opera, some acoustic music.
Zensors are great for Daft Punk because of the sweet treble and relatively deep bass, things with forward vocals like Kenny Rogers or Johnny Cash, very nice speakers for movies as well.

Placement is key for both speakers anyway, so no matter which one you pick, you'll have to play around with different positions (distance from the walls, toe in, probably some acustic treatment here and there) to get what these speakers can give.

I think I might go with the Bronze 2's then. I much prefer tight and punchy bass over deep bass. What are your thoughts on Kef Q100? They might be more flexible to placement considering they have the uni q drive units and are front ported.

Don't have much experience with the Qs, but anyway the Bronze 2 is front ported as well, and despite the speaker being front or rear ported you'll have to play a bit with placement because each room is different and the results can vary significanlty with placement and acoustic treatment. Bassed on third party reviews I think the MAs are a safer bet than the Q100.
