I'm looking to connect an unbalanced source to the JBL LSR305 speakers.  It will be coming off a 3.5 output and I plan to use either of the Hosa breakout cables, one that uses TS and the other that uses XLR.  It looks like the XLR is wired to be mono, so it is unbalanced.

Does anyone know if both the 1/4 and XLR inputs on the speakers can take unbalanced cables?  I'm afraid that I don't understand the wiring of the jacks well enough to understand if there would be an unfortunate short of either the TS or XLR cables that would be unbalanced.

Play it safe, a use a 3.5mm stereo (mini-jack) to dual 1/4" Mono plug cable.
(I'm not an expert on XLR, so can't answer on that)
