I'm a big fan of J.J. Cale. I own most if not all of his albums. I have followed the career of Eric Clapton for more than thirty years. Between the two, I own more than forty albums.

New release: Road to Escondido - J.J. Cale & Eric Clapton team-up for their first full length album.

I am very unhappy to say the album is mediocre. A few bright spots, but for the most part it is an over-produced sing-along with a rather annoying organ. Not very good.

I am a fan of Clapton's early works but have not owned any J.J. Cale. Read that this particular album was mediocre and like most of Clapton's recent albums, over-produced. I was tempted to buy it but did not. EC should really dump Simon Climie as a producer - he is not sympathetic to Clapton's style.

By the way, can you recommend what J.J. Cale to start off with?

Gladly. I'm shocked you don't have any Cale in your collection.

I would start with Special Edition (Greatest Hits) or if you like live music, try J.J. Cale Live. I have almost every album he has recorded. None of them are bad. If you can pick one up cheap, you're safe.

Great travelin' music!

Love JJ and Clapton (but who doesn't love Clapton?). Over-produced and JJ Cale have finally met for the first time! As much as I love his music, the production is almost always as laid back as he is. I'll probably buy this one anyway just to give it a listen.

Disclaimer - I am a huge Clapton fan and think he may be the best guitarist ever-

I like the JJ cale album. The two of them sound very alike vocally which is interesting. Their guitar styles are more distinct. It is a very well engineered and produced cd with a laid-back overall presentation. Overall I really like the CD and recommend it.

J.J. Cale's Troubadour gives me chills. Every track.

"Well, I've been out on the street since yesterday
Been looking for the woman that got away
A long-legged thing with a red dress on
The kind of woman you can't leave alone
Listen, if you see her, send her my way
Looking for the woman that got away
The last time I seen her she was looking good
I had a feeling that she understood
She slipped through my fingers in the middle of the night
I've gotta find my woman and treat her right
Listen, if you see her, send her my way
Looking for the woman that got away
If I ever get my hands on that woman again
I'm gonna lock my door and keep her in
She won't do no travelling, won't follow me 'round
I'm gonna keep my woman and leave town"

Man, this is one of those albums I need to re-purchase.
