490`s are on the ear supra-aural.

if i were you, i wouldnt have bought them, if you listen for no more than 20 mins at a time, they will be ok, but if you like a good long listen, your hot and sweaty ears will become a bit of a distraction.

you never know, i cross my fingers and hope they blow your mind.

Why no HD485?

Well my PX100's are super-aural I guess so hopefully i'll be ok, as for the no hd485's well I got outbidded and they went for £29, hopefully these will turn out to be a big coup

Honestly, the HD490's were awful headphones with lots of distortion in the low-end without even pushing them hard. They look similiar to the much-better HD495's, but don't sound nearly as good.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. *shrug*

Thanks for the reply, i'll listen to them for a day or so, hopefully i'll like them, if not, back on ebay they'll go and i'll ask somebody to tell me which to buy

its all subjective. i personally think that the hd485 you didnt win sounds like hell. farty mid bass bloat and no highs

Well i've got them, and I like them, I think.

I find them comforatable, just like bigger versions of my px100's, but Im thinking are the px100s just shrunken down versions of these? The sound quality sounds similar maybe just a little bit better, I can hear certain things in songs more clearly with these.

Only thing which im a little let down with in the loudness, the px100s can get really loud from an ipod, but these ive got them on full and there just about at a level I like (this is indoors) so if when i do use them outside I hope there'll not too low. I need to test them through my PC aswell, if they drive them better, then I think for £12.51 i'll be very happy.

px100s are way more sensitive danny, look into one of those battery powered cmoy portable amps if you want to use the 490`s with a portable mp3 player, used un-amped will drain your ipod battery like lifting a plug out of a sink. There is a caffeine tin cmoy portable that I think will suit you very nicely.
