On my way to the Sydney meet a few days ago, I was sitting next to a couple on a plane.
The guy had his iPod and I had my Hornet and ER4S combo. Eventually, curiosity got the best of him and he asked me what the little black box was.
I told him it was a headphone amp for my canal phones.
He said "What phones?"
"Canal phones, or In Ear Monitors... IEM for short... here, try them on your iPod."
Literally two seconds after he hit "play", his "HOLY SH**" exclamation of excitement had people from four rows ahead and one bemused stewardess looking at us.
He made me write everything down. What brand of headphones, which brand of amp, where to buy and other alternatives. I also pointed him to head-fi and apologised in advance about his wallet. Don't think his girlfriend was too impressed at me.
Poor person will lose his house deposit in a month!
