I've come to the conclusion that Grado RS-1's w/bowls are not bright..

Well, I think RS-1 + bowls is a tad too bright. Well, maybe that's because I have a source on the bright side of neutral and a fast amp with a LM6171 stuck in it. If we are going to do this senn vs. grado thing again, I absolutely think the senns have a more realistic treble. I listen a little more to the senns, but I can see why many would prefer the more detailed and forward sound of the Grados.

I don't really have anything to add, but I agree with you, Beagle.

I haven't found them bright. To me, they just sound pretty close to right, realistic, natural. When I had my 650s, I somewhat enjoyed the sound (sometimes), but it just didn't seem real to me -- and that was a flaw I could not overlook.

Of course, everyone has different ears. I have no doubt to some, the 650s sound like live music sounds. If they feel that way, great! It's nice to find a headphone that sounds right to you.
