In case you dropped in here first, or haven't visited apple.com for awhile, iTunes 2 is now available for download! (yes, the real thing). Just go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and it will be yours to download free of charge! Enjoy. Now, Heaven, drop money in my lap for that iPod!

If you have a Mac, you MUST get this. In my experience, it's the best MP3 software on any platform. It's just a great app with a great interface.

Well, in case you didn't know, iTunes is soundjam, so yes it uses Fraunhoffer for encoding... and its a good encoding scheme too like lame, but I am still unclear where and when fraunhauffer and lame should be chosen...

Hm just grabbed itunes 2... that crossfade feature is great! (on the minimal setting of course)... thats like a feature I've been waiting for a while for those continous tracks...

Too bad I use the cd player far more...

Yeah, I've been off the Mac for about a year now. I was happy with SoundJam, although I'm not sure how it compares to EAC.

Anyway, the LAME advocates claim fhg is best at 128kbps or lower, while LAME is better at higher bit rates. This pertains to encoding (on windows) as opposed to ripping, by the way.

What does everyone think of the 'sound enhancer' (under the preferences). Do you think that this just craps up the sound?

Hmm it seems to increase the soundstage for me... some songs its okay on, some it sucks... I think off is the best position for any of these software sound modifiers...

Apple pulled the OS X version. It seem to erase some HD's. They have now posted 2.0.1 which is safe.

Yup, they posted a real small link on the download page, talking about that very problem.

Wow, the second double post I've seen on head-fi, on the same day too...

Anyways yeah it really sucks, it was such a stupid mistake too, they forgot some quotes around a part of a script... Q&A is nonexistent these days, if it works on their standard installs it should work for everyone...
