Never, ever, thought id say this-but "Catch 33" is getting more listening time than just about any of the other 1400 or so albums I own (maybe a tie with ISIS's "Absence of Truth"). (Props to ASMOX for getting me into yet another band that I initially did not think id like).

Anywho-this is where its at for me.
Absolute genius, minimialist-math/metal-core. I can listen to those driving, angular guitar riffs all day.
And the vocals...to my ears, perfection.

Ive realized I like the minimal/repetetive nature in the song structures found on this album in the same way I like dark minimal techno (ala Richie Hawtin/Plastikman or Dave Clarke).

I'd like more like "Catch 33"-which album next?

I will gladly take non-Meshuggah recs as well.

Chaosphere was my intro to the band. I couldn't really get into it. Same with Nothing. Then I tried Destroy Erase Improve, and found I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very much so. Its still technical and all, but sounds more like music to me.

Post revival...
So present day-Meshuggah has quickly become one of my favorite bands.
Ive got Catch 33, I, and Nothing and truly love them all.
Easily some of the most intelligent music I have ever heard.

Its time to get into other bands like this-if they exist.
ASMOX-the usual culprit, has gotten me into Coprofago and Intronaut as well.

I now have an insatiable appetite for math-metal, especially the repetetive/driving guitar type material.

I need MORE!

Recs?

I have NOTHING, it's really like nothing else that I have, though I don't have a *huge* metal collection, at least compared to some of the folks around here.

I might suggest Botch's WE ARE THE ROMANS. They a bit faster, more "math-core" than "math-metal" but very metallic nonetheless. Check out some samples if you can find them. They're not around anymore, but ROMANS is an awesome album.

Another one I'd try is the first Mastodon album REMISSION. I'd assume you've heard them by now, but if not, get REMISSION now. Awesome.

Intronaut is great. Thats actually how I eased into meshuggah; I had catch thirty three but intronaut weaned me from post to math metal (heavy influences of both). I was lucky enough to see them open for Isis earlier this year (while Jesu was stuck in Britain w/o Visas) and was instantly hooked.

Excellent. I dont really care for Torche but the 9:30 club is pretty good for a big venue. Not nearly as nice as a small club where you can reach up and shake the musicians hands, but then I went and sawthem later that week in Richmond too

. That was the fourth time I'd seen them in four months (detours on tool tour)
