I ordered on day 1. It's been the same estimate the whole time. I hope the engraving didn't add any time.

If the shuffle gets into applestore/bestbuy/etc. a lot sooner I won't be too happy.

I'll provide an update if it ships before the 31st of this month.

I think the reported ship dates of those that have ordered has been near the end of the month.

I don't think they really said, but I got the feeling when I ordered mine on day 1 it would be closer to the end of the month. I think she said "sometime in October". That usually means toward the end of the month. I don't think the engraving adds much time, as I had my 80 Gb engraved and it shipped very quickly direct from China.

I pre-ordered from J&R but in a recent email, they alerted me that it wouldn't be shipping anytime soon so I'm guessing the end of the month as well. I was so hoping to have it by the time my cruise date rolled around in mid-October but I guess that's par for the course lately.

Amazon site says release date is the 11th, anybody know how right on they are?

I ordered an iPod from Amazon once (with Audible deal) and it was "shipping soon" for over two months. They kept "almost" getting the models in according to rep on phone. Who knows, but I wouldn't expect Amazon to be shipping in the first few days of the release.

yeah, that's the only reason i ordered directly from apple. engraving's been something they'd been doing for a while.

my eta is still nov... just like the post above. it's ok, i just get to use the
