Well, I'm going back to college and I have no decent pairs of closed cans at all. I mean it. I have a vast collection of Headphones, but not a single pair of closed cans I can take to school and not look like an idiot with. I own the Shure 440 but jeez they are heavy.

I am looking into the Bose Q2 ONLY because of their portability. I am not sure what to do. I want a great sounding, comfy light weight closed back over the ears with a short cord...fhew

halp meh?

D1001 checks most of your boxes, but if isolation is a concern they won't be good at it. But they're light, super comfy, closed around ear, and has a shorter cord than most.

The ath-m50 would be good they fold up for portability, definitely comfortable, I dont remember if they were light weight but I dont recall thinking that they were heavy, you should check these out.

get the ESW9 new or an ESW10 from the For Sale section of this forum. Wonderful portable headphones, great sound and good comfort.

[size=xx-small]Last week I gave a Bose OnEar owner my ESW10's to try and it gave him a very big smile

ESW10's are VERY pricey, but the ESW9's can be had for reasonable costs especially used - BOTH are fabulous portables!

Both ATs are supraaural, though. I also have my doubts about D1001 being circumaural - they surely aren't circumaural for my ears...

I remember seeing used ESW10's around $350/400? That's close to the Bose price point.
But yes, the ESW9's are much cheaper, you can find them from $230 and up new.
