I currently have 3, but find myself constantly changing headphones, I cant stand to only listen to one, or at least I havent found the perfect sounding can for my ears.

Ill listen to the senns and after a while, Ill get bored of its sound and I switch over to the next one, I like having this option to switch, and each time I get a totally different sound, its great for listening to my favorite cds, its like a different experience each time I hear the same song.

You guys with 10 cans, must be lucky, as you can change the sound as much as youd like.

I still want to get the DT880s and something from audio technica. One can from each major headphone company

, though I cant at the moment, I have bills to pay.

I recall going to guitar center and listening to a lower end beyer and thought "WOW" these sound good, I cant imagine how the the ddt880s must sound.

I find myself swapping headphones a lot because though each can has its good points each one has different weakpoints.

Ever heard the Labtec Elite-840s? I'm not sure, but from what I hear, they may be the best Labtecs in this forum. They lack clarity, but are quite musical, although sometimes they can sound hollow.

I'm with you, RnB180. I was thinking about this just last night in fact. At this point, I would find it very hard to pick one headphone and sell the rest. There are things about each one that I like, and so far even my favorites have certain weaknesses (for example the comfort factor of the Grados, the slightly recessed mids of the DT 531, the recessed treble of the K240S, etc.). I've already sold some that I wanted to keep, but that's mainly because people tend to think it's a little weird when they walk into your room and you have 6+ headphones lined up next to each other. "Are those ALL for YOU? How many headphones does one person NEED?"

I guess they don't realize it's a hobby or interest much like stamp or coin collecting, hehe.

I envy the people that can find that one headphone that just does it all for them. As good as the HD 650/DT 880/RS-1s are, though, I'm not sure I'd be happy with just one. It's so nice to be able to switch headphones, listen to the same song, and be presented with an entirely different view of the music!

i've found that if u stop to a headphone, then come back to it, u'll discover a lot of new things about it, got the 590s thought they were pretty meh. left in the hanger for about 5 mths, then tried it again, dam the bass is nice

Ideally, I prefer just one perfect headphone for home use. Portable use would require multiple pairs depending on the situation.

However, I am currently using two headphones for home listening.

DT880: a wider soundstage and more distant and laid-back sound

ATH-AD2000: more forward and engaging, accurate and balanced, overall better sound than DT880

yeah me too. I usually listen to my DT770, MS2 or KSC75. Id like to add an eggo (closed portable) and K501 (image and soundstage) to the mix.

People at work think I'm nuts. Yesterday I added K501's ($142.95 at BH Video NYC !) to my DT880's, HD500's, HD555's, HD580's, HD280's, SR60's on the single point that they sound different. If I have a toothache, I go to the dentist. If my car's running bad, I go to my mechanic.

Same with my headphones. They're specialists. If I'm listening to Klaus Schulze or Delerium, my DT880's give me the kind of monster-low frequencies I'm looking for. If I'm listening to Norah Jones or Diana Krall, the HD580's give me the kind of sweet midrange I want. Wanna rock my world when I'm at work ? The HD280's fit the bill nicely. Wanna bring a friend into the world of REAL heaphones ? My SR60's are on extended loan... And from what I heard last night, I think AKG and Deutsche Grammaphon are going to be very good friends indeed... I like to listen to the HD500's for a while then put on the HD555's just to remind myself how badly Sennheiser got it wrong with the 500's.

Living with one pair of cans just seems.... I dunno.... wrong. **shrugs**

I have to say not three days go by I haven't listened to all of them. With exception to the MDR-V6/V600. Those are on the guitar amps.
I really can't say which pair gets the most headtime... Although most listening last night was the SA-5000.. But the night before was ATW-W100.. then DT880.. ahhh

3 is all you need.

1) Portable. I use KSC-35.

2) Home open. I use SR200.

3) Home closed. I use DT770 Darth Beyers.

You need a can for every listening situation, and the best in that situation, within budget. The DT770 is needed when i need to keep it down, the SR200 is for when i can cut loose, and the KSC-35 is dog walkin' time.

My ideal world would be on-call bass and mid-bass injectors for the k501.
