I have recently been researching the potential benefits of using isolation systems for my audio gear. I had first used these in my vinyl days and had heard an improvement in the sq and a beneficial boost to setting up my tone arm etc.
So armed with granite slabs, blocks of dense wood and squash balls I have created separate platforms for my static Mac Book Pro (dedicated music server), my DAC and Amp (Violectric), my Mac Mini (part time server in my office) and my speakers.
Being aware of bias (placebo and smugness), I would be interested to see if anyone else has experimented with isolation systems for their Head Fi set ups.
I feel that they helped with tightening up the sound and contributing to even blacker backgrounds, which in turn have made my equipment and headphones sound more pleasing to my ears.
