Uncharacteristically, I went out yesterday with my D1001s. There wasn't much traffic and there was no construction going on on my route. As such, the D1001s did a pretty good job as portables. Cept they make me look like a male, Asian, Princess Leia. Then, later that day, I went out with my C551s. Again, there wasn't much traffic and there was no construction going on. And I was much, much less pleased with the isolation that these offered. Both times, the iPod Touch was set at 50%, which is pretty high for me. This...doesn't make sense to me. Am I not achieving a good seal with my C551s (they feel fine)? Or does anyone else have similar experiences?

I feel the same way. Maybe cuz the C551s have an "air port" in both sides?

Ah, you might be right about the ports. Weird, that canalphones are worse at isolation than super-comfy circumaurals.
