Not that I'm going to go custom anytime soon, but I'm still wondering how the sound isolation of custom earphones compares those of universal fit IEMs.

On the UE site, it says both customs and the TF10s are -26 dB. I own a pair of TF10s, and personally I don't find the isolation that good, especially with their default crap foam.

Owner of Livewires T1s (rated 25db isolation), ER4Ps and im716s.

The generics' isolation depends on the tips used but, yes, as has been reported in these sorts of threads before, you can generally get slightly better isolation (maybe 27-28db, though some have indicated up to 30db) on a set of generics with the best tips for your ears.

And, yes, that's with all the IEMs having the best possible fit.

(Note: you can sometimes improve custom fit (and isolation) by making the fit absolutely perfectly tight - see the Livewires thread - http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/l...reamin-259853/ ).
