Well I've read 2 or 3 threads already where the owner has replaced the drivers. Is this an isolated situation or inherent to Sony CD3K?

Thats so not true. You haven't been reading/hearing enough

I think all headphones have failure rates, even the highest end R10s I believe. so as I said, there's nothing to worry about.

I don't think there is any problems with the sony.
Rather, it's probably just the luck of their owners..

well I saw it on "gear for sale" section and some replies in the "headphone" section. As I said, it could be an isolated sitution.
