Ive been searching around lately for a new cdp and the NAD c541i looks very excellent. However, if the c521BEE is really better as i have read in a few posts, then i will save myself some $$$, get a cdp that sounds better and holds multiple cd's which would be very convenient!

So, are the rumors true? is the c521BEE better or should i go for the c541i?

thanks a lot.

The c521BEE does not hold "multiple cds" just one.

The 521 BEE is a very good entry level player, I think now that the nad 542 is out, I would choose the 521 or the 542 and forget about the 541.

Thats odd, I could have sworn i read somewhere that it held three cd's...weird...

I can get the c541i for $300 new, and think its an amazing offer, which is why I'm not so sure if I want to spend more $$$ to get the c542...which i doubt is worth the extra money.

The c541i is better than the c521i though, isn't it. And if it is, then shouldn't I go for that over the c521i...

i would go for a discounted "older" model just released recently, before i would the more expensive update. that would place the c541i above the c542 (and i'm considering the c541i myself). as for the 521bee, i just have a feeling it won't match the 541i; there are factors to be considered other than sound, such as the potential difference in build quality, which would be an easy way to make the 521bee inexpensive yet still sound good.

NAD 541i--->Homegrown Audio silver DIVA IC's--->gilmore dact v1--->zu mobius or silverdragon + HD650's

Comments? How would the NAD affect this setup?

My intentions are to wake the senns up a bit.

I found them a tad dark and with the brightness of some of the components im going for, i think it will work out great...what do you think?

For that price grab it quick. The C541i is an improvement over the old C541 and that was a classic. The "i" model is supposed to handle CD-r disks better. The C542 is supposed to have a slight improvement to bass due to some component changes, it also plays HDCDs if you can find em. All these players are regarded highly.

I have the C542 and I cannot imagine ever needing to upgrade to another conventional CD player.

But at that price I know I'd have bought it with no regrets either now or in the future.

Buy,
